Our Story
SASH was founded in 2023 when Dr. Ruby Mendenhall, a healthcare policy researcher, noticed a troubling pattern: families in affordable housing developments were experiencing preventable health crises because they lacked access to regular monitoring and early intervention.
At the same time, remote patient monitoring technology was becoming more affordable and reliable. Dr. Mendenhall realized that if this technology could be integrated directly into new housing construction, families could benefit from continuous health monitoring without the burden of additional costs or complicated setup.
Working with CTO Emmanuel Jackson and a team of architects, healthcare providers, and community leaders in Ghana, Botswana, and Illinois, the SASH team developed LIAM (Living Integrated Assistance & Monitoring)—a proprietary platform that combines durable, locally-sourced construction with pre-installed remote monitoring equipment. The result: homes that cost 30-40% less than traditional housing while providing residents with 24/7 access to health tracking and early warning systems powered by LIAM.
Today, SASH is working with government agencies, NGOs, and private developers to bring this integrated housing-healthcare model to communities across three continents.
